Are you a journeyman lineworker that is looking for a place to work where you can go home nightly?  Bay City Electric Light and Power, a division of the City of Bay City, Michigan is seeking full-time Electrical Journeyman Lineworkers to immediately fill multiple openings. This specialized experienced position earns a competitive salary of $45.33 per hour. Our lineworkers are responsible for the construction, maintenance, operations and outage restoration on the utility’s distribution facilities. They operate in a safe and efficient manner, to assure our customers reliable and affordable electricity.

As a city employee you will be offered generous personal time off (PTO) which includes vacation, personal, sick, and holiday pay. A robust benefits package including a high deductible health insurance plan with a city-funded health savings account (HSA), dental insurance, as well as life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance is also available. Our city employees also enjoy additional benefits, such as an annual stipend to cover the purchase of authorized FR clothing, an annual stipend to cover the purchase of safety footwear, a defined contribution to a 401(a) plan with Municipal Employees Retirement System of Michigan (with employer and employee percentage contributions), and a Retiree Health Savings Plan with a fixed city percentage contribution which helps employees build assets for medical expenses when they reach retirement age.

Requirements:

  • Must be a High School Graduate or obtained a GED equivalent.
  • Must be a certified Journeyman Lineman and possess a Journeyman Lineman card.
  • Must have knowledge and experience with distribution systems.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid State of Michigan Driver’s License with CDL Class B endorsement.
  • Must be readily available to respond to system outages after normal work hours.

 Work Schedule

  • This is a 40/hour week (with potential paid overtime).
  • Work is conducted locally with no mandatory travel (occasional mutual aid storm work may be available).
  • Must be willing to take occasional on-call trouble truck coverage (paid).
  • Must be readily available to respond to system outages after normal work hours.
